Within the framework of the “5th Tashkent International Investment Forum,” Director of the Agency for the Development of the Medical and Pharmaceutical Industry Abdulla Azizov and agency representatives actively participated in the Uzbekistan–Korea Business Forum.

During the forum, participants discussed cooperation in infrastructure, investment, innovation, industry, and high technologies. Promising areas of cooperation in the development of the pharmaceutical industry, introduction of modern medical technologies, implementation of investment projects, and enhancement of human capital were also reviewed.

As part of the event, a Cooperation Agreement on the establishment of the innovative biotechnology cluster “SMART-BIO CLUSTER” was signed between the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade, the Agency for the Development of the Medical and Pharmaceutical Industry, and the Republic of Korea’s Korea Overseas Infrastructure & Urban Development Corporation (KIND).

In addition, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed with South Korea’s "Kim & Kim" company aimed at legal support in the biopharmaceutical sector, improvement of the regulatory framework, and exchange of experience.

Within the framework of the forum, B2B and G2B meetings were held to discuss attracting investments into the pharmaceutical sector, introducing innovative developments, expanding local production, and implementing new joint projects.

The signed agreements will contribute to the development of innovative biotechnology and the pharmaceutical industry in Uzbekistan, the establishment of high value-added production facilities, the strengthening of research capacity, and the advancement of practical cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Korea to a new level.
